Hiking gear
Currently, my summer hiking gear base weight is about 9 kg. My intention is to get it down somewhat.
Backpack: Savotta Jääkäri L
My main backpack is the Savotta Jääkäri L (black). I love it because it is sturdy as hell. Savotta makes high-quality backpacks, and my first Savotta backpack lasted 20 years, even though I abused it badly. The Savotta Jääkäri L has a carrying capacity of 55 liters, which can be expanded using the PALS system. I use 2 x 6-liter pockets on the sides, totaling 67 liters. The backpack has an internal tubular aluminum frame, which is ideal for me because I have back issues. My nickname for Savotta backpacks is "Narsku" (meaning "squeaky") because they make slight squeaky noises with heavier loads.
Tent: Zpacks Duplex
If I am traveling alone, I carry the Zpacks Duplex Tent. It is super light (640 g with metal spikes), and it can withstand most Finnish spring/summer/autumn weather. Because I use trekking poles anyway, they double nicely as tent poles. For worse weather and hiking with a companion, I use the Hilleberg Anjan 2 ("Yellow label" series). It is a bit heavier (1.8 kg), but it is warmer and more rugged than the Zpacks Duplex.
Sleeping: Marmot & Exped
When I was younger, I could sleep in a wet pond. But as I get older, I kind of like to sleep well – or at least relatively well. That's why I have chosen the Marmot Trestles Elite Eco 2 Extra Wide for my sleeping bag and the Exped Ultra 3R M for my trekking mat. It has an R-value of 2.9, and it is pretty easy to carry. And yes, I also use inflatable pillows because I am a side sleeper.
Cooking: MSR PocketRocket and Snow Peak 600 titanium
Well, this most likely doesn't come as a surprise, but I use the MSR PocketRocket for cooking. When using, for example, the Primus 100 g power gas, you can fit the gas container nicely inside a Snow Peak 600 titanium mug.
